## Configuration

## Getting a webhook URL

1. **Open channel settings**

    In Discord, open the target channel's settings and go to **Integrations**.

2. **Create a webhook**

    Choose **Webhooks → New Webhook**, name it something recognisable such as
    "Glowo", and confirm the channel.

3. **Copy the URL**

    Use **Copy Webhook URL**.

4. **Paste it into Glowo**

    Create a Discord channel in Glowo with that URL and press **Test**.

The webhook URL is a secret — anyone with it can post to your channel as that
webhook. Delete and recreate it in Discord if it leaks.

## Action track

Discord receives an inline follow-up message when an alert is muted or
reactivated, the same as [Slack](/alerting/slack) and
[Telegram](/alerting/telegram).

## Practical notes

- **Permissions matter.** If the webhook is deleted or the channel is removed,
  deliveries fail and the channel's circuit breaker will eventually open. Check
  [delivery history](/alerting/delivery-history) if alerts stop arriving.
- Use a dedicated alerts channel. Alerts interleaved with conversation get
  scrolled past.
